Trip 2
August 2019, we drove to Wisconsin Dells to spend a few
days with Ryan, Reece and Amelia before driving the kids back to Atlanta
to spend a week with us. On the way up, we meandered along the Mississippi
River, first stopping at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio
Rivers at Cairo
IL. Second stop, St. Louis, where we visited the Lewis and Clark Museum
and a few other sites, including the confluence of the Mississippi and
Missouri Rivers. Then we drove 50 miles along the Missouri River
on the way to Hannibal MO, birthplace of Mark Twain, before moving on to
Wisconsin Dells. At the Dells, we stayed at the beautiful Wilderness
Lodge, did a duck boat tour of the Dells and had a great time at two of
Wisconsin Dell's largest water parks. After three days there, we
traveled on to Oak Lawn IL, where we visited my former business partner
(Prestige Information Systems 1980-1989) Mark Hochsprung and his wife,
Cecilia. Then on to Indiana where we visited Fair Oaks Farm and
Lafayette, before driving on to Louisville KY. There we toured
Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. Then on to Mammoth Cave
before driving home to Atlanta. |
