Europe Favs 1 -
Move
on to
Europe Favs 2
From
1963-65, while in the Air Force, I was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany.
In 1968, three years after returning to the states,
I went back to Europe to work as an electronics technician for Chicago-based Automatic Electric Company.
Our job was the installation and maintenance
of
Autovon, a worldwide military telephone network
designed to withstand a nuclear attack. My
first assignment was at the Autovon site atop Mount Vergine 35 miles
from Naples, Italy. My second assignment was the Autovon site at Humosa,
55 miles from Madrid, Spain. My third and final assignment was an
Autovon site at Langerkopf 25 miles from Kaiserslautern, Germany. These are my favorite photos from
those days. |
